Conclusion (Overall Reflection)
Technology enhanced language teaching was the most demanding course this semester... To be honest, when I did my first assignment I felt like I got lost.
Before taking this class, I was at 'basic ICT competence'. I had basic computing skills, yet didn't know anything about how to use it to teach language. And, now I think I am somewhere between 'dealing with constraints and possibilities of the medium' and 'online socialization'. The reason I think I am between those is that I learned what to do at every stage from this class including the two stages, still, I am not proficient in them. It is still hard for me to adapt the advantages and drawbacks of a program and to find ways to encourage students in an online platform. And the biggest challenge as of now is 'facilitating communicative competence', making a student-centered activity is so hard for me. I guess it is because I am used to a lecture-style class which is not mutual, in addition to lack of my ability.
About the Wang et al.’s stages, I guess myself I am still at the 'anxiety' stage. I learned a lot, but I can't confidently say that I am used to online teaching. I think to say that, it will take more time and practice.
From this class, I learned a lot. It was demanding, but worth it.
I got a better understanding of teaching language and teaching language using technology as the class progressed and felt like I found a direction. By keeping practice what I learned from this class, I think I can be a more competent teacher.
